Futomama

One year of light.

Gemmayze's Japanese deli by day, hidden speakeasy by night. Plan A designed and installed the lighting, the ceiling cage and the holographic projections — from concept to opening, and every night since.

The Venue

Tokyo flavors,
Beirut attitude.

Futomama looks like the cutest little Japanese deli in Gemmayze — tempura, bao, chirashi bowls, katsu and a cheeky “Japadog.”

Then, behind closed doors, the room changes. Colorful holograms, bold cocktails and projection-mapped visuals turn raw stone into one of Beirut's most talked-about secret nightspots. Plan A built the light that makes that transformation happen — and from day one, we've been the studio behind it.

General Lighting

The mood of the room. We bathed Futomama's vaulted stone in deep speakeasy reds, let a mirror-ball scatter the light, and backlit the flamingo glass so the space glows the moment you step in. Warm wash · Mirror-ball · Stained glass · Refraction

Special Lighting

The cage in the ceiling. A custom fixture suspended in the vault, lit from within so it shifts from blood-red to electric blue across the night. It anchors the room and gives the speakeasy its pulse. Custom build · Suspended · Color-shifting · Centerpiece

Holographic Projections

The showstoppers — what people screenshot. Peacocks, all-seeing eyes, unicorns and flamingos mapped frame-perfect onto raw stone. One year on, we still refresh the content on a regular basis. Projection mapping · Ever-changing · Year one
